Environmental Policy

ESTI CHEM A/S is committed to operating an environmental management system in compliance with the ISO 14001 standard to support a documented environmental approach.

We adopt a life-cycle perspective to assess and reduce the environmental impacts of our products throughout their life cycle - from raw material selection, production, transportation, and use, to disposal by our customers.

We continuously document and reduce our CO2 emissions.Through data analysis, we identify improvement projects that can reduce selected environmental impacts, including CO2 emissions, energy use and resource consumption

We remain focused on renewable raw materials and energy sources, as well as new technologies across all stages of our products’ life cycle.

Environmental policy in compliance with the ISO 14001 standard

Focus Areas:

✔️  Zero Chemical Spill Strategy:

We are committed to zero chemical spill and work continuously to ensure that our processes maintain this goal.

✔️  Environmental Assessment in Process Changes:

When expanding or modifying production equipment and facilities, we incorporate environmental aspects to minimize environmental impact.

✔️ Product Development:

Environmental aspects are integrated into the development of new products, and we actively apply the substitution principle to use the least environmentally harmful raw materials. Our goal is to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals and minimize environmental impact.

✔️ CO2 Reduction Targets:

We have ambitious goals to reduce our CO2 emissions, with 2020 as the baseline year:

      • Scope 1: 70% reduction by 2030
      • Scope 2: 70% reduction by 2030
      • Scope 2: Maintain 100% renewable electricity procurement
      • Scope 3:
        • By 2030, 80% of the CO2 emissions from raw material purchases must come from suppliers with climate targets covering scope 3.
        • By 2030, 50% of the CO2 emissions from raw material purchases must be covered by supplier-specific PCF data.
      • Our long-term goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% by 2050 across our value chain.

✔️ Palm Kernel Oil:

ESTI CHEM is a member of the RSPO, and many of our products are RSPO certified. We are committed to phasing out non-certified raw materials, and we report progress in our annual ACOP report to the RSPO:

      • By 2030, 50% of non-certified palm kernel oil-based raw materials will be phased out.
      • By 2050, 100% will be phased out.

✔️ Water consumption:

We monitor water consumption, wastewater, and a small fraction of concentrated rinse water from the production process. The small fraction of concentrated rinse water is collected and treated as chemical waste to protect the wastewater system and prevent the discharge of environmentally harmful substances.

✔️ Employee Involvement:

All employees are involved in our environmental efforts and are encouraged to suggest improvements through internal audits and records in our management system. Employees are trained in spill management, waste handling, product development, and more, so that everyone can contribute to continuous environmental improvements in relevant processes.

✔️ Measurement and Control:

We systematically measure energy, water, CO2, and waste consumption, as well as recycling of packaging and raw materials, to monitor and reduce our environmental impact. An annual environmental and CO2 report is prepared, detailing progress and identifying new reduction opportunities.

✔️ Suppliers:

Our suppliers are assessed to support our environmental objectives and documentation requirements. We work with partners who not only meet environmental standards but also actively invest in new technologies to reduce their CO2 emissions.

✔️ Legislation and Regulations:

We complie with Danish environmental legislation, local regulations, and EU directives and guidelines to ensure that we meet the latest environmental requirements.

We work systematically to strengthen our environmental efforts and develop products and solutions, which contribute to improvements in our own operations and in collaboration with our customers.
